How it works

One loop, three steps.

  1. A physio finishes treatment and scans a QR.

Their patient gets a physio-set program in the Traina app, and your gym as the place to do it.

    Scan to start your program
  2. Your front desk enters one code.

Their referral code at sign-up is the only thing you do. It is timestamped, verifiable, and it is what you are billed on.

    TRG-XXXX-XXXX
  3. They train at your gym.

Tailored program, logging, progress. Unlocked by your membership, so they join to get it.

The member app

A training app people open at the rack.

  • 15 physio-designed programs across five body areas.
  • Logging that remembers every lift: previous performance beside every set, and a flag when a member beats their best.
  • Challenges and badges on a weekly rhythm.

Traina Learn

Members who understand their body keep training.

Every body area has a written track, in plain language, by a registered New Zealand physiotherapist. It answers the questions people actually ask when something is niggling.

A member who knows what is going on makes better calls about their own training. They turn one dial down for a fortnight instead of stopping altogether, and they are still there in three months.

It is free, and it does not need a gym membership to read.

Low back

9 parts

  • 1

Your back is built for this

What most back pain actually is, and why that is a better starting point than it sounds.

  • 3

What a scan can and cannot tell you

Why a scan finds something in almost everyone, and what that means if you have had one.

  • 4

    Training around a grumpy back

Four things to turn down when your back is complaining, and why stopping is rarely the best of them.

And six more parts, then the same again for knee, shoulder, hip and neck.

Who we are

Two founders, one loop.

David Lalor

Registered physiotherapist.

David wrote every program in the product. Members train on his work, and clinics prescribe from it.

Alex Wheeler

Physiotherapist by training, then software.

Alex has worked inside a premium gym, and runs Traina day to day. He is who you talk to on the call.

FAQ

Are we liable if a member gets hurt?Open

Traina is not a health provider. It never makes a clinical decision about anyone. Every member accepts a standard exercise disclaimer when they create their account, and your own membership terms stay exactly as they are.

What do we see about our members?Open

Verified sign-ups, and engagement in aggregate: how many trained, logged and took part. You never see a member’s scores or anything about their body. That is deliberate, and it is part of why members trust the app.

What happens to member data?Open

It belongs to the member. Anything health-adjacent is shared only where the member has opted in, under the NZ Health Information Privacy Code, and they can withdraw that any time. Gyms never receive it.

Do we have to replace our gym software?Open

No. Keep Mindbody, Glofox, GymMaster or whatever you run. Traina is not gym management software: it runs no bookings, no member billing and no front desk. It sits alongside what you already have.

Is this just another workout app?Open

No. It is for the member with a weak point, and the physio-written program that gets them training around it. That is a much narrower job than a general workout logger, and it is the reason a physio is willing to send someone to it.

Is Traina a healthcare provider?Open

No. Traina never makes a clinical decision about anyone, ever. It gives people a program written by a registered physiotherapist and a place to do it. Anything clinical stays with their clinic.

What do our staff have to do?Open

One thing. When someone joins with a Traina code, the front desk types it in. That is the whole job: no new system to run, no reports to fill in.

Can people who are not our members use the app?Open

Yes. The app is free to download and genuinely useful without a gym. The tailored program is what your membership unlocks, which is why people join to get it.
